Organized by the Afterschool Alliance, Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide initiative that promotes the importance of learning beyond the classroom, emphasizing the benefits afterschool programs offer not only to children but also to parents.
ExpandLA – which supports, connects, and advocates for expanded learning opportunities for young people in Los Angeles – is a part of this initiative, and has recruited many great educational organizations in the area to participate in a joint event on October 24, 2024.
The Immersive Art Collective is honored to partake in this venture - along with Heart of Los Angeles, Fun Zone Reading Club for Homeless Kids, and Hospitality Training Academy - to host the “Shine On Talent Showcase” as part of Lights on Afterschool.
This FREE event will feature live entertainment from professional performers and will open up the stage for any child who wants to show off their talent! Additional festivities include:

Creative Bend is the culmination of IAC’s various outreach efforts to give children from low-income families in Los Angeles the opportunity to grow and express themselves through the arts. This program kicked off in 2024 with a 2-week summer camp in which a group of kids participated in a wide variety of artistic activities, including world-building, set design, lighting, body movement exercises, taiko drumming, and so much more!
Creative Bend will continue throughout the year in the form of seasonal workshops, programs, and camps, so stay tuned for updates!
