IAC Partners with The Laurel Foundation for a Magical Camp Party
At The Count's Den, the atmosphere was electric. Teens danced, laughed, and celebrated in a vibrant, themed environment designed to foster community and joy. This wasn't just any party—it was a special camp party hosted by the Immersive Art Collective (IAC) in collaboration with The Laurel Foundation, aimed at providing a space for transgender/gender-diverse youth and teens affected by HIV/AIDS to come together and enjoy a night of fun and connection.
The Mission of The Laurel Foundation
The Laurel Foundation has a clear and heartfelt mission: to improve the well-being of transgender/gender-diverse youth, and children, youth, and families affected by HIV/AIDS. By offering year-round mental health, social support, educational, and youth development programs, The Laurel Foundation empowers young individuals to live authentically within a safe and trusting environment.
Founded in 1992 by Margot Andrew-Anderson, The Laurel Foundation recognized an urgent need for dedicated support programs that address the unique physical and emotional needs of these vulnerable groups. Through their initiatives, they strive to create spaces where youth can thrive, find community, and gain the confidence to be themselves.
IAC's Commitment to Social Change through Immersive Art
The Immersive Art Collective (IAC) shares a similar vision of empowerment and transformation, but through the medium of art. IAC believes that the creative process is a powerful catalyst for social change, offering individuals from diverse backgrounds—including underserved communities and youth—a chance to immerse themselves in artistic expression.
IAC’s mission is to bridge economic, racial, and social divisions by enriching lives through arts workshops, providing essential resources, creating job opportunities, and hosting engaging community programs and events. A significant aspect of their work involves fostering partnerships with youth and social service organizations, like The Laurel Foundation, to ensure that their impact is both far-reaching and deeply meaningful.
A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
The collaboration between IAC and The Laurel Foundation is a natural fit, rooted in shared values of inclusion, empowerment, and support for youth. By hosting the camp party, IAC provided not just a venue, but an experience that aligned with The Laurel Foundation’s mission to create safe and joyful environments for the youth they serve.
Together, IAC and The Laurel Foundation are making strides in their respective missions:
The Laurel Foundation ensures that transgender/gender-diverse youth, and children and youth affected by HIV/AIDS, receive the mental health and social support they need to thrive.
IAC brings these values to life through immersive art experiences, creating spaces where all individuals can express themselves freely and find healing through creativity.
Building a Brighter Future
Events like the camp party are more than just fun gatherings; they are vital opportunities for community building and personal growth. They offer a glimpse into a brighter future where every young person can feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
